Europe’s history is rich, complex, and full of responsibility. On 2 December 2025, we took that legacy forward. ERSTE Foundation proudly launched the Europe’s Futures Initiative (EFI) – a living network of thinkers, policy-makers and creators, united by the shared belief that Europe’s best days are still ahead. Together, we will shape governance, guide growth and turn bold ideas into real world solutions.

Rooted in the success of the Europe’s Futures Fellowship, established in 2018 together with the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), EFI will draw strength from leading voices across academia, journalism, and civil society.

Where better to call home than Vienna?

A city whose history has shaped and engaged the entire continent and where Europe’s past and future continue to engage in dialogue.

The new institution shall shine bright all over Europe as a symbol of renewal. Leading by example, it shall inspire the citizens of Europe to seize their destiny, strengthen the European idea and reshape it for a changing world.
