On December 4, 2026, tranzit.org assembly vienna will gather the entire tranzit.org network for a single curated evening in Vienna. As the culmination of a year-long anniversary program across Europe, it is the one occasion on which all member organizations will come together in the same room. Bringing together artists, curators, editors, former and current tranzit members, and invited guests, the evening combines performances, conversations, and the Austrian launch of the anniversary publication tranzit 20+.

The evening is dedicated to the memory of Boris Marte. As CEO of ERSTE Foundation, he played a decisive role in establishing the tranzit.org network and in supporting countless cultural, educational, and social initiatives across the region.

For more than twenty years, tranzit.org has connected independent art initiatives in Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Cluj, Iași, Bucharest, and Bratislava. Through locally rooted hubs and long-term collaboration, the network has created exhibitions, publications, festivals, educational formats, and experimental spaces while fostering critical inquiry, solidarity, and cross-border exchange throughout Central and Eastern Europe.

The program features contributions by Sepake Angiama, Areej Ashhab, Miklós Erhardt, Gary Farrelly, Flóra Gadó & Borbála Soós, Ferenc Gróf & Zsófia Gyenes, Vít Havránek & Boris Ondreička, Maria Hlavajova, Eva Jiřička, Norbert Kuki, Livia Pancu, Eriola Pira, Alexandra Pirici, Johannes Porsch, and Kathrin Rhomberg.

The evening unfolds in two parts. The first looks back at the origins of tranzit.org and the ideas, collaborations, and institutions that shaped the network over the past two decades. The second turns towards the future, exploring the social, political, and environmental questions that contemporary art and cultural practice will need to address in the years ahead. Throughout the evening, newly commissioned performances and artistic interventions are woven into the program.

The formal program will be followed by a gathering with drinks, music, and space for conversation, bringing participants and guests together to celebrate twenty years of tranzit.org.

The full program and further details are available on tranzit.org.
