Collective Exhibition for a Single Body – The Private Score – Vienna 2019 is an
exhibition of performances created by artists from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern
Europe that are activated from works present in private collections in Vienna.
The project is based on an original exhibition score conceived by Pierre Bal-Blanc and
was launched for the first time at documenta 14 in Athens/Kassel in 2017. The Private
Score is this score’s second version and is being produced in Vienna at the initiative
of the Kontakt collection with its resources expanded by the collections of the TBA21
and works also represented in the collection of Generali Foundation. The activation of
the artworks will be resituated via the performers’ presence during opening hours in
the Lidl food market on Wiedner Hauptstraße.
The original artworks from the Austrian collections that form the starting point for these performative movements and gestures will be shown at Haus Wittgenstein along with further works from the three collections. At Tanzquartier Wien, the project will be contextualized by a discourse-focused event entitled Parallax Views II on 25 June 2019.

Curator: Pierre Bal-Blanc based in Paris and Athens. He was curator at documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel in 2017. In 2005, he presented La Monnaie vivante (Living Currency) in Paris, followed by Tate Modern and the 7th Berlin Biennale, among others venues. He was director of CAC Brétigny from 2003 to 2014. His last exhibition was The Canaletto View in 2017 for the Erste Group Bank in Vienna. His exhibition catalogues are Project Phalanstère (Sternberg Press 2017), Soleil politique (Museion/Paraguay Press, 2016), Draft Score for an Exhibition (NERO Publisher, 2014), Reversibility (Mousse Publishing, 2012), Ver Sacrum/The Death of the Audience (Secession/Niggli, Vienna, 2010).
Choreographer: Manuel Pelmuș born in Bucharest, is a choreographer and artist who lives and works in Oslo and Bucharest. He has recently had a solo exhibition at Para Site (Hong Kong, 2018), and his projects have been shown at Tate Modern, Venice Biennale (Romanian Pavilion), Museum Ludwig Köln, Off-Biennale Budapest, Centre National de la Danse, TanzQuartier Wien, Kyiv Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, Tanz im August, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, among others. In 2012, he was awarded the Berlin Art Prize for performance art and the prize for excellence from the National Dance Center of Bucharest in 2014.
