Muhammad Yunus meets Andreas Treichl

12. January 2012

Muhammad Yunus was interested in the work of Die Zweite Sparkasse. Since 2006 ‘The Bank for the Unbankable’ offers an account for people who have found themselves in economic difficulties, giving them a realistic chance of regaining control of their financial problems.

Also dealing with Social Banking is good.bee Holding, a social enterprise which was recently founded by ERSTE Foundation and Erste Group. It offers to people who don’t have a bank account, a simple and cheap possibility for money transfers and micro credits in the Central and South Eastern European Region. Good.bee started at the beginning of this year in Romania.

The goal of the meeting was also to discuss possible cooperation of ERSTE Foundation with initiatives of Muhammad Yunus, directed towards  micro- and social enterprises. ERSTE Foundation plans similar projects in Central and South Eastern Europe.  Subsequently to the working meeting, Muhammad Yunus met with the volunteers of Die Zweite Sparkasse as well as the good.bee team.
