ROMANI, created by Erika Varga and Helena Varga in 2010, is the first Roma studio with the aim of raising awareness about the culture and heritage of both Hungarian and Roma culture’s within the fashion community. ROMANI is instrumental in giving a voice to Roma culture by reinterpreting traditional Roma patterns with a modern urban touch. The brand also directly serves Roma society by employing disadvantaged Roma women, organising workshops and hosting events to discuss Roma identity, heritage and culture.

  • A short introduction on the ERSTE Foundation Roma Partnership by Alina Şerban, Project Manager, ERSTE Foundation
  • A talk by Erika and Helena Varga on the role of women in social entrepreneurship and their experience with building the ROMANI brand over the past years
  • A talk by Livia Jaroke, MEP, and first Romani woman to be elected Vice President of the European Parliament.

We hope that you will be able to attend this event and see for yourself the inspiring working taking place. ROMANI has not only given an innovative and fresh take on fashion but has also contributed to the progress and betterment of the Hungarian and Roma Community.
