The »Betreutes Konto« (supervised bank account), an instrument of the Vienna Debt Advisory Service (FSW – Schuldnerberatung Wien), helps people who are experiencing or emerging from homelessness to manage essential payments – such as rent – automatically and reliably, and helping them in their daily financial organisation. This study examines the effectiveness of this account from a behavioral economics perspective and explores which measures could improve its functionality.
