JOY #1: Spaces of Being–in–Common
6 June – 5 July 2025
17(Joy) at Lombardi—Kargl, Schleifmühlgasse 17, 1040 Vienna
A year-long curatorial project, 17(Joy), is set to open at Lombardi—Kargl at Schleifmühlgasse 17 in Vienna. Initiated and curated by Jen Kratochvil, the project will unfold over five chapters throughout the coming months, each developed by an invited curator: Adelina Luft, Stella Rollig, Ekaterina Degot, Ji-Yoon Han, and Sebastian Cichocki.
Opening
5 June, 19:00
17(Joy) centers on the idea of joy as a tool for collective resistance—a counterforce to despair, a method for building relationships, and a strategy for survival in difficult times.

The first exhibition, curated by Adelina Luft, brings together cultural initiatives that operate at the crossroads of ecological practice, rural infrastructure, and collective care. Participating collectives: Krater (Ljubljana); sessi space (Brno); WCSCD (Gornja Gorevnica); The Experimental Station for Research on Art and Life (Siliștea Snagovului); and Kollektiv Kaorle (Vienna). Together they create a space for being-in-common—where different modes of life, work, and organization can emerge in response to our current political and ecological conditions.
