Financial Inclusion obviously is a topic for a foundation that gets dividends from a banking group. Actually, at the very beginnings of ERSTE Foundation itself stood a project for financial inclusion: we evolved out of the Erste Oesterreichische Spar-Casse, which was established in 1819 as a savings bank, providing financial services for individuals who did not have any access to banks. Today, we continue in the tradition of the founders and their commitment to the people. Zweite Sparkasse (Second Savings Bank), the bank for the unbankable in Austria, and good.bee, a joint venture with Erste Group and its initiative for social banking in Central and Eastern Europe, were established by ERSTE Foundation to launch further projects in the field of financial inclusion.
