The book that accompanies the exhibition was published by Mandelbaum publishing company and tells stories about the Jewish community »Sechshaus« from its beginnings to its destruction. It connects the historic archive research with the voices of numerous witnesses of that time. In addition to the personal memories of the witnesses, it documents the history of the Jewish suburban community »Sechshaus« and the events in the NS period.
The Book follows the traces of existing memories of this community in Vienna, Israel, and the USA. The Holocaust determines the project and the viewpoint of all authors. In the same time it is not the main subject. The illustration enters a dialogue with historic developments and asks questions about the people, social implications and the »Jewish spaces«, which gave a significant contribution to the Viennese culture as part of a suburban workers neighbourhood.
