Every summer, more than 300 students from more than 50 countries worldwide work in approximately 20 classes on art projects at the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts. The Academy is distinguished by the high reputation of the teaching artists and the internationality of all participants, and its main aim is a wide variety of artistic productions.
ERSTE Foundation offers five fellowships for young artists and five fellowships for emerging curators from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia to take part in a course of their choice at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg.
“Salzburg was a great experience for me and for everyone participating in Maria Lind’s class (“The Histories and Practices of Curating”). Her knowledge and the presentations connected to the Summer Academy’s programme gave us a good background for curatorial studies, and the chance to get to know the artistic work of important contemporary artists. Equally important was the opportunity to meet young artists and see the process of their work, to hear about their classes and tasks, and also to experience the diversity of our class-members who were from very different backgrounds.” (Krisztina Hunya, Hungarian Art History student and fellow at Summer Academy Salzburg in 2011)
The eight fellows are selected by a jury formed by ERSTE Foundation together with its project partners, tranzit.cz, tranzit.hu, tranzit.ro and tranzit.sk.
TheFellowships for Curators and Artists at Salzburg Summer Academycover accommodation & board, travel expenses and the participation fee for the course. The Fellowships are worth between EUR 1.000 and 1.500 each, depending on the different length of courses for artists or curators.
