Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operate in a dynamic environment. Changes in society and in the political and financing landscape require everyone involved in the social sector to possess an excellent level of knowledge and education. The ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy supports these organisations by providing targeted and high-quality capacity building.
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) operate in a highly dynamic environment. Many large funding providers are withdrawing from Central and South-Eastern European countries, and the demands that the remaining or new ones make on NGOs are constantly increasing. Many organisations are struggling with this situation and often lack sufficient resources, in particular with regard to time and expertise, to adjust to changes – which often happen within a very short period of time. Thus changes in society and in the political and financing landscape require everyone involved in the social sector to possess an excellent level of knowledge and education.
The ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy was founded in 2013 to help strengthen the social sector in Central and South-Eastern Europe. It offers a range of high-quality capacity building programmes which aim at training executive managers and members of NGOs. By doing so, it supports the organisations themselves and indirectly also their stakeholders by transferring knowledge, imparting skills and helping them build up networks. Furthermore, the academy assists them in tackling existing and future challenges in their sectors.
The ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy provides capacity building support to NGOs in Central and South-Eastern Europe. It offers two programmes, which are independent of each other. In order to implement them, we have teamed up with the Competence Centre for Nonprofit Organisations and Social Entrepreneurship of Vienna University of Economics and Business.
The Social Innovation and Management Programme combines practice-oriented training with a solid base of expert knowledge. The customised, three-week programme, which is held in English, provides participants with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required to manage their organisations and to use expert input to work on specific challenges relating to their organisations. The Regional Programme features subject-specific events, which have a strong local focus and are offered in five language groups.
