Schools awarded for innovative cross-border school projects about volunteering

From March 27th to 30th almost 350 students and teachers from 15 different countries came together at the aces – Academy of Central European Schools in Senec/Slovakia. They presented the results of their joint school projects all around the topic of volunteering and shared their experiences and learning outcomes. All participating schools were honoured and an international jury of experts awarded the most innovative projects.

Volunteering – aces topic in 2011

aces is one of the biggest international school networks in Central Europe and every year a project contest for school partnership projects is carried out. Volunteering was the topic in 2011. Students and teachers from the awarded projects, delegations of schools from previous aces cycles, representatives of the Ministries of Education from the partner countries came together in Senec. The aces Academy is the central network event of the year. It is a participative platform for exchange on education, a practitioners’ circle and a community of best practice. Besides the presentation and evaluation of the results of their school partnership projects, the participants had time to share their experiences and lessons learned. During the four-day event the participants gained new knowledge, skills and attitudes in relation to voluntary work in schools, communities and society. Different workshops about new ways of teaching and learning, as well as the new aces topic media literacy were offered.
