MAGURA phenomenon (1970-1987)
Documentary Film / DVD / Publication
Europe’s largest sculpture park is located at Măgura Buzaului and features 256 monumental objects made from stone. MAGURA Phenomenon (1970-1987) is a comprehensive examination and documentation of this phenomenon from the 1970s and 80s. Importantly, the inquiry not only examines existing works but also addresses the symposiums and discussion series concerning the sculpture park organized over a period of 16 years by the initiator, the sculptor Gheorghe Coman, and which influenced an entire generation of sculptors.
The investigative project provides the initial impetus to a consideration and revaluation of this cultural legacy from the 1970s and 80s and plays a part in the preservation of the sculpture park.
