Participants

The participants of the Social Innovation and Management Programme 2014 came from 11 countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe. As a group they characterized through a huge heterogeneity concerning age and experience, as well as size, structure and age of the organisations they were engaged in. Furthermore, they came from different backgrounds ranging from economics to psychology and theatre sciences.

    This nominated project was the first project of the Green Gold Society for Social Ecology, which was founded in order to implement it. With two follow-up projects focusing on self-employment opportunities in wild-grown herb harvesting the Society has demonstrated that a partnership based approach between the civil and the private sector can create sustainable operations for some of the most marginalized groups in a rural environment. The Society is promoting the same model for other natural products with the first project replication currently under way in Dalmatia.

    Founded in 2008 the association "Die Schwalbe" is a relatively young organisation in the social-psychiatric field in Graz/Austria offering housing accomodation and occupation for women in critical life situations. The work of the association is mainly based on peer-work and was founded by Angelika Vanek-Enyinnaya and Arndt Stering, both ex-patients of the psychiatric clinic Sigmund Freud Graz/Austria.Our personal experience during our crisis and our stay in hospital inspired us to found a housing accomodation for women who after staying in the hospital soffer of lonelyness and still need support in everyday life issues. We strongly believe in the power of self-determination in every human beeing and try to encourage the women staying in our house to take their own decisions concerning their future self-confidently.

We provide advice, information, psychosocial support and advocacy to the various marginalized groups of migrants, such as asylum seekers, refugees, unaccompanied children and migrant workers.We perform guardianship for unaccompanied children; organize learning of the Slovenian language other educational assistance, social activities and other forms of assistance for the integration. We include volunteers who are well educated and they offer mentor support in our program.
