Austria
In Austria, councelling and support services have been provided by the social support and immigrant counselling centres of Caritas. Thanks to the funding provided by the KomenskýFond of ERSTE Foundation, the social support centres have been able to add another component focusing on education to their range of counselling and support services. Education is an effective way to escape poverty and enables individuals and families to sustainably improve their lives. Moreover the KomenskýFond funded several other projects and activities in cooperation with Caritas in Austria.

In the project Talitha, carried out by Caritas Carinthia since November 2009, sex workers and victims of human trafficking can find advice and support. In particular, women trying to change their field of work are supported in their integration into the labour market. Additionally, public awareness campaigns are conduted.

According to a survey of the OECD, Austria has one of the highest rates of immigrants employed below their skill levels, also because professional qualifications are frequently not recognized. Caritas in Upper Austria provides nostrification counselling and support for skilled immigrants.

In Tyrol, Caritas performs simulation games with young people to give them an understanding of the issues exclusion and discrimination.
