ACCESS is an initiative of ERSTE Foundation and Austrian Ambassadors from Central and South Eastern European countries, meant to create a bridge between the commercial sector and the social NGOs in this region. ACCESS is part of ERSTE Foundation Award for Social Integration, and addresses NGOs whose projects have been among the winner and/or shortlisted ones in previous year’s edition of the Award. Thus, a series of meetings in several cities in countries of Central and South East Europe will be organized by the partners mentioned above, where NGOs are invited to meet with the representatives of the companies which are part of the Austrian Business Club and present their programmes, in order to identify together possible collaboration opportunities.

The first such meeting, which also marked the start of the ACCESS project, took place in Timisoara, on March 12, 2010, where representatives of 60 Austrian and German companies, members of the Austrian Business Club and German Business Club of Banat were present.

ACCESS initiative was presented in Timisoara by the Ambassador of Austria, Martin Eichtinger, and representatives of ERSTE Foundation Social Development Programme: Franz Karl Prüller, Programme Director, and Dejan Petrovic, Project Manager.

Rising ethnic tension and increasing social exclusion all over Europe show that the work of social organisations and activists is needed more than ever. Every day they do their best to raise awareness and provide service and assistance where it is necessary. ERSTE Foundation wants to step up its activities to facilitate this work. In order to do so we organised the Workshop Thinking Social Activism to get an update on the current situation, future challenges and new possibilities.

Ivan Krastev, advisory board member of the ERSTE Foundation, talking about social realities!
