The Trophy Story
We started developing the ERSTE Foundation Award for Social Integration in 2006. Soon after we agreed on the project idea and structure, we launched a competition for the creation of a visual for the Award. We needed a suggestive sign, for illustrating both the logo and the trophy which was going to be offered to the first prize winner. The competition was addressed to artists from the Central and South Eastern European countries. The most intriguing but also suggestive proposal came from Sanja Iveković, a well known artist from Croatia: a black spiky sculpture, representing a sea urchin.
