Having grown up in idyllic Styria, Christiane was actually more into urban places than mountains and moved to Vienna, where she completed a Master's degree in Journalism and Media Management. After freelancing for Austrian media, being an intern at the European Parliament in Brussels and working for a PR Agency in Vienna, she joined ERSTE Foundation in 2010.

Christine is Deputy Managing Director of ERSTE Foundation and Director of Programme Culture. She is also Chairwomen of 'Kontakt. The Art Collection of Erste Group'. She has worked as a journalist as well as curator and was director of the reading and exhibition programme in the Literaturhaus Vienna. She directed various international festivals focusing on Literature, Arts and New Media. She developed the concept of the Lichtzeile - an LED billboard and a ticker in the Web as a form of literary publication. In 2001, she published the book 'Literatur im Netz. Projekte, Hintergründe, Strukturen und Verlage im Netz' (Literature on the web. Projects, backgrounds, structures and publishing companies on the web.) (Triton Verlag). Christine studied Comparative Literature and Spanish in Vienna and Madrid and lectured at the University of Innsbruck on cross-cultural topics.

Rupert studied law at the University of Vienna, International Studies in Bruges and was Chief Human Resources Officer of Erste Bank for 18 years. He has been a Member of the Board of ERSTE Foundation since 2011. Under his aegis, the bank developed into a Central European player. Rupert is more than familiar with the international perspective of ERSTE Foundation, its commitment to people and has dedicated himself to the cause.

Doraja is member of the board of ERSTE Foundation since 2011. She holds a diploma as a social worker and was previously member of the provincial government of Salzburg. In 1992, she founded an association called "Bauern helfen Bauern", which enables victims of the Balkan wars to return to their homes. Doraja has received numerous awards for her social commitment, such as the Mitteleuropapreis of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe or the Peacebuilding Award of the EastWest Institute in New York.

Having worked as a curator of contemporary art in Innsbruck and Oslo has not only lead Christiane to working as a curator and project manager at ERSTE Foundation, but also to a membership in the Vienna based queer-feminist DJ collective 'Quote'! For Christiane, having studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and at Lund University in Sweden as well as writing a column for an.schläge - a feminist monthly magazine - has certainly contributed to her multifaceted life!

Robin worked for a thinktank in Berlin, then in Istanbul, when he decided to make his workplace a desk at ERSTE Foundation’s Programme Europe in 2007. An economic historian by training, he oversees civil society initiatives on journalism, media, education and socio-economic research. He represents ERSTE Foundation in the Steering Group of the Grantmakers East Forum, a forum for interlinking donor activities in Central and Southeastern Europe.

Together with her team, Maribel communicates ERSTE Foundation and its projects to the world. Joining the organisation in early 2007, Maribel, a Munich-born art historian, journalist, art critic and former press officer of EXPO 2000 in Hanover and documenta X in Kassel, has since established ERSTE Foundation’s Communications Department. She considers her job the most fulfilling that she can imagine: talking all day long about things that you are deeply convinced of. Currently, she is learning Serbian at ERSTE Foundation: "Ja zaista imam najbolji posao na svetu!"

Before joining Erste Group as Head of Corporate Sponsoring and, consequently, building up ERSTE Foundation, Boris held various positions in the fields of politics and cultural politics. Among others, he worked with Erhard Busek, Austrian Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Science and Research, and Peter Marboe, Cultural Commissioner of the City of Vienna. Furthermore, Boris headed a team to establish Rachel Whiteread's Holocaust monument in Vienna and worked as Advisor for the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the educational and architectural Reform of Mauthausen. Boris has a university degree in law from the Vienna Law School. During the time of his studies he spent some years in different jobs in the Viennese off-theatre scene. Boris has written and published several books. Reminiscing the good amount of his childhood years that he spent in Moscow in the '70s, Boris likes to host 'Russian themed parties' every once in a while.

Although Franz Karl is still pondering his life motto, it seems like he already found it a long time ago: philanthropy! For 17 years, he worked for Caritas Austria, also in Armenia, Romania, Kurdistan/Iran, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, Rwanda and in numerous other countries. Born in Podgorica, Montenegro, Filip then grew up in places with strong local dialects: Munich, San Antonio and Vienna! Hardly surprising he chose to focus on semiotics in his doctoral thesis. His knowledge in media psychology is of great value in building up ERSTE Foundation Community, an initiative that gathers some 100 people from the fields of art, research and NGOs, to exchange ideas, create synergies and contribute with innovative impulses to the work of the Foundation in the framework of the European Forum Alpbach every year.

Descended from five generations of bankers, Andreas, CEO of Erste Group, had actually wanted to become a conductor. However, the advice he received from Leonard Bernstein changed his mind. So he then went on to study economics and started his career with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York in 1977. Since 1997, he has been CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board of Die Erste österreichische Spar-Casse Bank AG, now Erste Group, transforming the 200-year-old savings bank into one of the largest financial institutions of Central and Eastern Europe. Andreas is Chairman of the Managing Board of ERSTE Foundation.

This has, however, only added to her experience and had significant impact on her professional development - skills, which the communications expert has honed even more when joining ERSTE Foundation in 2008. Before joining the team, Jovana worked at the OSCE Mission to Serbia on the country’s democratic reforms. She has a demanding job, handling, among other things, PR activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia, but always keeps her cool. How cool!

Born in Fargo (USA), a place made famous by a Coen brothers' film, Heide spent most of her life in Austria. After finishing university programmes in journalism and theatre, film and media studies in Vienna and San Francisco, cornerstones in Heide's career were heading the press department at Tanzquartier Wien and working as production manager at Wiener Festwochen. After that, she worked with the sponsoring department of Erste Bank 'Kontakt. The Arts and Civil Society Programme of Erste Group'. All these vocational challenges have equipped her well for her latest challenge: the Culture Programme of ERSTE Foundation, where she started in 2009.

Not only has Richard been on ERSTE Foundation's Board since 2008, but he is also a partner in Wolf Theiss, one of the leading law firms in Central and South Eastern Europe, where his expertise and main practice areas are banking, finance, capital markets as well as mergers and acquisitions. He was born in Paris, educated in Austria and in the US, and gained experience at the EU Commission in Brussels and at Chase Manhattan Bank.

His degree in Economics first took Franz to Austria's Federal Ministry of Finance, where he was a supervisor of financial market authority. In 2001, a career change brought Franz to Erste Bank. Starting off in the communications and public affairs department, he soon after became the Head of the Company Secretariat. For ERSTE Foundation, he has been the Managing Director of the Legal Affairs Department since 2003.

In 1991, he began working for Erste Bank, heading the New Issues and Funding department from 1993 on. Since 2002, he has been Head of the Group Strategy Department. Martin is responsible for Financial Planning and Capital Markets for ERSTE Foundation.
