In addition to carrying out our own projects, ERSTE Foundation offers grants for practical, innovative projects. We welcome well thought-out proposals that complement ERSTE Foundation’s goal of strengthening civil society in one or more countries in Central and Southeastern Europe, including Austria, taking each country's past, present, and future into account.
WHO DO WE FUND?
ERSTE Foundation only funds projects by non-profit organisations. We cannot fund individuals, political groups or parties. Please be aware that the non-profit status is defined according to Austrian tax law.
WHAT DO WE FUND?
The purpose and implementation of any subsidised project must serve the public good. In order for ERSTE Foundation to make a grant for your project, we need to understand how it meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Ideas concerning current and future societal challenges in Central and South Eastern Europe
- Having content that develops from a local need that has potentially cross-boarder implications
- Innovative contributions dealing with current local, national, and trans-national issues
- Ideas that foster respectful encounters with and awareness of other cultures
- Identifying transformative processes in societies and their effects on different generations
- Initiatives supporting sustainable development in the civil society of Central and South Eastern Europe
- Projects that support and encourage the future-oriented visions of young talents in local and global contexts

What should your application include?
Your application should give us a precise picture of what you are planning. We would like to know:
- What is the purpose of your project?
- What kind of activities are you planning?
- What is the timeline of your project?
- Who are your partners?
- What is your detailed budget?
- Which amount would you like to be granted from ERSTE Foundation?
- Will you receive funding from other sources?
