International Delegation of Pupils Visits Education Minister Claudia Schmied

12. January 2012

“The programme gives a particular form of support to cross-border cooperation between pupils and teachers in the fields of education and culture. This successful project encourages intercultural dialogue in schools,” said Education Minister Claudia Schmied, who was impressed by the commitment of pupils and teachers and by the quality and creativity of their projects.

aces is an ERSTE Foundation initiative, which is coordinated by the Vienna association Interkulturelles Zentrum in cooperation with the Slovak association NGO VČELÍ DOM. Fifteen countries participate in this school network, which is supported by the education ministries of all the partner countries. On 28 April Education Minister Claudia Schmied officially kicked off the fourth aces project cycle in Austria.

Promoting international school partnerships
Each year the aces network organises a project competition for school partnerships. This year’s competition will involve pupils focusing on how to deal with conflicts in schools and school-related environments. The registration deadline is 30 April. “355 schools have already registered for the current competition in the aces Partner Finder,” says Boris Marte, ERSTE Foundation board member, who is thrilled about the large number of participants. The winners will receive funding from ERSTE Foundation to help them implement their projects.
