Exhibiton, 16 July – 27 August 2011
Curator: Petra Nöll
The exhibition will show works by Austrian artists as well as international artists from Central and South Eastern Europe who live and work in Austria. Installations, video art, photography and paintings will shed a light on the much discussed topics “zones” and “borders”.
Zones are constructs that on the one hand are built to exclude others and on the other hand give the impression of security. In Central and Eastern Europe, these zones symbolise the opening of borders in the European Union, which are well accepted by some groups, but have led others into an identity crisis and a feeling of insecurity. These historical events form a background for the exhibition.
A catalogue with the showed work and philosophical texts on the topics will accompany the exhibition.
