Zeppelin Association nominated at the European Prize for Urban Public Space

Zeppelin Association is one of the twenty finalists of the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2012. The nominated project is ‘Magic Blocks’ (2010), which focuses on the activation of the areas behind the socialist boulevards in the heart of Bucharest. The entire central area of the city is covered by concrete curtains, dozens of kilometres of boulevards of uninterrupted rows of blocks built in the ’70s and the ’80s. ‘Magic Blocks’ proposes an urban strategy integrating a community project and interventions in the public space.

The European Prize for Urban Public Space is a biennial competition organised by seven European institutions with the aim to recognise and encourage the recovery projects and defence of public space in the cities. The award, created in 2000, celebrates its seventh edition in 2012.
