Rundek Cargo Trio is a sort of Balkan gothic cabaret, worldwide, full of sound and fury, defying any attempt of categorisation. It was funded by Darko Rundek, one of the main exponents of the former Yugoslav New Wave in the early 80´s who left Zagreb to Paris during the civil war and who seems forever scarred by the apocalyptic state of mind that characterised this conflict.

Rundek Cargo Trio performed at the European Forum Alpbach in August 2011, upon invitation of ERSTE Foundation and on the occasion of the annual Foundation Community gathering.

We invited the Trio to our premises to tell us their story. It is a story about exile, migration, wars, diversity, new beginnings…a story about the social and political reality of our times.
