Transeuropa Festival 2013

Organised by European Alternatives, Transeuropa Festival is a unique transnational festival of culture, arts and politics, taking place in October in 13 cities all over Europe: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belgrade, Berlin, Bologna, Bratistlava, Cluj-Napoca, London, Lublin, Paris, Prague, Sofia, Warsaw.

Through a series of linked practices, events and discourses – from panel discussions to performances, video screenings and forums – the festival produces a shared and collaborative space, to promote an alternative idea of Europe. Have a look at the programme and join the events taking place in your city!

Transeuropa Festival is the result of a participative process taking place throughout the year across Europe, involving more than 200 activists and volunteers, spread over 13 cities in 12 European countries, mobilised in order to achieve a truly Transnational festival. Each city of the Festival has a local group of activists, who meet up during the year, organizing activities, taking forward campaigns and discussing the contents and activities of the Festival.

The events running in 2013 in the various cities will feed into a Citizens’ Manifesto, containing citizen-led proposals to be presented to the European political parties campaigning for the 2014 elections. The manifesto will empower citizens to have a say in their future, giving them a sense of ownership of Europe and its institutions. The elaboration of the manifesto will involve people from border countries of the current European Union (such as Serbia and Montenegro) as important stakeholders in the future of the EU, and as an exercise in transnational democracy which does not limit itself at borders.
