Summa cum Laude: International Youth Music Festival 2011
2 – 5 July 2011
The Summa cum Laude International Youth Music Festival had a successful start in 2007 and has taken place since then every July in Vienna’s Musikverein. Under the patronage of Nicolaus Harnoncourt, it brings each year groups of talented international young musicians and singers to the city of classical music, Vienna. This year, additional concerts were given in Hungary, which is the beginning of a great cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe not only during the festival, where these countries are widely represented.
Within the framework of the festival, the young artists are given the possibility to attend workshops by renowned musicians and lectures and to show their skills during performances. Additionally, they can take part in a top competition in front of an international expert jury in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. Other performances will take place in the Austrian National Library, the Hofburg, Liechtenstein Museum, Haus der Musik and the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna.
