Remembering Maly Trostinec
27 – 29 November 2011
Karlsplatz, 1010 Wien
Maly Trostinec is a place near Minsk in Belarus, where more than 10.000 Austrians were deported and fell victim to to the Nazi regime. Despite this high number, the horrible events are quite unknown in Austria. Thus, on 28 November 2011, exactly 70 years after the first deportation, the victims will be remembered during the first international conference in Vienna about the occurrences in Maly Trostinec.
The conference, which takes place from 27-29 November in Wien Museum will welcome international experts as well as survivors of the Minsk ghetto, who will discuss the period and present their cross-border experiences to a wide public. The events will start off with the premiere of a music piece by Konrad Rennert and readings from books of authors, who have lost their lives in Maly Trostinec.
The rich programme will be complemented by several film screenings and the results of the conference will be edited for a thorough publication (German/Russian/English).
