NGO TOKA was selected for the implementation of the upcoming Democracy Workshops in Kosovo
Following an open call for applications and a selection process, together with the Assembly of Kosovo we appointed the non-profit organisation TOKA to be the implementing partner for the upcoming Democracy Workshops in Kosovo.
TOKA’s mission is to improve Kosovo’s society, by providing experiences that shape young people into agents of positive social change, with particular focus on environmental and social awareness and activism.
As part of the Democraccy Workshops initiative, TOKA will offer technical and expertise support to the Administration of the Assembly of Kosovo in implementing the workshops, which will take place starting the second half of 2016, on a planned period of two years (maximum extension up to three years). After this phase, there is a possibility for the Administration of the Assembly to continue with the project implementation independently.
The Democracy Workshops are based on principles of civic education for school children, which will help them gain knowledge on parliamentarian democracy, parliamentary work, adoption and enforcement of laws, as well as the role of media in a pluralistic society. The program is designed as a workshop through which school children between the age of 8 and 14, with the help of selected and educated trainers, can learn how parliamentarian democracy works. The goal is to promote an interest in democratic and political processes, as well as to contribute to better understanding for children.
