Kakanien – New Homelands Kicks Off
29 March 2012, 8 pm, Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz
Am Schwarzenbergplatz 1, 1010 Vienna
with Joachim Meyerhoff & Miljenko Jergović
Joachim Meyerhoff kicks off the series Kakanien – New Homelands (Kakanien: Neue Heimaten) by adding a very personal touch to the evening: The German author and actor, who is a member of Vienna’s Burgtheater ensemble, presents a text composed especially for this occasion, reflecting on the notion of “Homeland” as seen by an author from the Kakanian region. To this end, he invited the renowned Bosnian-Croatian author Miljenko Jergović (Sarajevo Marlboro, Buik Rivera, Das Walnusshaus, Freelander, Wolga, Wolga), who will also present a new text. Together they will embark on a quest for what is foreign and familiar in the literary and personal concept of “Heimat”. At the request of Joachim Meyerhoff, Jergović will bring along German author Anne-Kathrin Godec, who has been living in Croatia for the last 12 years, as a guest. This exceptional evening will be rounded off by music from Serbian violist and singer Jelena Popržan and Kosovar-Albanian cellist and singer Rina Kaçinari, as well as a selection of various film clips.
Philipp Hauß, Caroline Peters and Nicholas Ofczarek will be responsible for the next Kakanien – New Homelands event.
