International Romani Art Festival

International Romani Art Festival

The International Romani Art Festival is a unique social-artistic project that shows the Romani culture to a wide audience, by bringing recognised Roma artists from around Europe. It is one of the only events of this kind in Central and Eastern Europe with an audience of 10.000 people (Roma and non-Roma). It is one of the most complex cultural events with a strong social component in Romania and Europe.

The 6th edition of the festival will take place in Bucharest, the capital with influential spheres of decision makers, but also with the most resistance to change the situation of Roma communities. International Romani Art Festival is a crucial project proving its importance in counterbalancing the negative stigmatised perception and action regarding Roma.

The Festival has a strong influence on social integration, to change stereotypes in society, by presenting the values, cultures of Roma culture in a relaxed environment for the general public. It is a wining project of the ERSTE Foundation Award for Social Integration 2011.

7-10 June 2012, Bucharest, Romania
