Contemporary art festival
15-19 November 2011
Košice, Slovak Republic

INTERFACE +89 is a contemporary art festival with the focus on enlivening among young Slovak people the message and values of November 1989 events that caused the Velvet Revolution in former Czechoslovakia. The festival brings more than 35 various events – concerts, theatre performances, discussions, film screenings and visual arts – with a significant artistic and social dimension. It builds on open dialogues between young people and contemporary art, citizens and urban spaces and aims at shaking up the state of dissatisfaction and cultural stagnation that is felt in Slovak society nowadays.
This is the first event after 1989 with a focus on a history reflection targeting primarily the youth.
