Intercultural Youth Meeting in Serbia

4-10 July 2010
Sokobanja, Serbia

Children and children’s rights is the topic of the intercultural youth meeting taking place in Sokobanja from 4 to 10 July.

Youngsters from Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic and Ukraine will have the opportunity to practice democracy in a children’s parliament, discuss and learn about topics such as discrimination, children’s rights, right to education, right to play as well as to learn more about their neighbors, actively participate in shaping the programme, make friends and have fun together.

The meeting is organised by the Komenskýfond, an initiative of Caritas and ERSTE Foundation in Central and South Eastern Europe with main emphasis on education and the effects it can have on a future independent life of children and young people from socially disadvantaged households. Dismantling prejudices and barriers, developing an understanding of other cultures and countries, reinforcing a sense of community, are only some of the goals of this initiative.
