Get involved at AKCENT Festival 2012!
The second edition of the AKCENT Festival is taking place in Prague this week! This festival of theatre with social outreach is the intersection point of a trend in contemporary theatre to focus on the relationship between art and society in unique ways. This year, the AKCENT Festival unifies theatrical performances, musical events, exhibitions, discussions, presentations, and projects that deliberately violate the imaginary boundary between the audience and those who are on the stage.
The motto of this year’s festival is “Get involved!” and its symbol is the “personal curtain” – a real personal curtain, a new product, which might soon be in supermarket chains and penetrate the domestic and global market. If you see something unfamiliar, uncomfortable or suspicious, all you have to do is close it and, like a spectator in a classical theatre, the curtain will separate you from the action on stage.
The festival, though, is designed for those who would never buy a personal curtain and those who do not want to be passive observers of what is happening – AKCENT Festival aims for people who want to get involved!
Date: 15-18 November 2012
Venue: Archa Theatre, Prague
The AKCENT Festival takes place in the framework of the project “Where is my home?”, which was launched by the Archa Theatre in Prague, and deals with the topics of xenophobia and migration through a combination of music and theatre. In collaboration with refugees, host communities, students, actors and musicians, a series of new theater pieces, musical works, performances and workshops are created and shown from October 2011 to December 2012 on various locations in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
