Fellowships for Curators and Artists at Salzburg Summer Academy 2014

summeracademy 2013

How does the world come into the picture?*
This is the motto of the Summer Academy’s course programme 2014. Along with philosophy, art is one of the very few fields today that reflect on the world we live in, and upon social questions apart from economic interests, efficiency and profit maximisation. The programme deals with the particular ability of the fine arts to generate “images” of the increasingly impenetrable world, both of its superficial outward appearance and of social and political conditions. Artists sometimes use these images to tell stories – analytical, utopian, documentary, appealing or ugly.

ERSTE Foundation offers fellowships for young artists and for emerging curators from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovak Republic to take part in a course of their choice at the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts (21 July – 30 August 2014).

The fellowships are designed for artists and curators at the beginning of their career and cover room and board, travel expenses and the participation fee for the course. Furthermore, the participants will be given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and their experience, to reflect their own work, develop new ideas and get contacts on an international level.

A call was held in the respective countries beginning of this year and from over 100 applications a jury – formed by ERSTE Foundation together with its long term project partners tranzit.cz, tranzit.hu, tranzit.ro and tranzit.sk – selected the following fellows:

· Vlad Basalici (RO) – course of Doug Ashford

· Marta Fiserova (CZ) – course of Felix Gmelin

· Radoslav Istok (SK) – course of Anders Kreuger

· Anna Juhasz (HU) – course of Nancy Adajania

· Diana Marincu (RO) – course of Nancy Adajania

· Tímea Anita Piróth (HU) – course of Amelie von Wulffen

· Jana Pisarikova (CZ) – course of Jennifer Allen

We would like to congratulate the fellows and wish them a productive and interesting time. We are looking forward to any possible presentation or participation in a public event during this year’s Salzburg Summer Academy. The 2014 programme of events will be online by the end of June 2014.
