Fellowship for Curators and Artists at Salzburg Summer Academy 2015
In our society, characterised as it is by financial capitalism, money and capital play a pivotal role. Thus in the art world, too, galleries, auctions and wealthy collectors from many countries are important protagonists; the art market with its great economic significance, is the focus of much attention. Today, looking at society as a whole, it sometimes seems as though money were the principal criterion for measuring the success of the individual, of a company, an institution or a country. To counteract this, it is particularly important to raise the question of the purpose of our (individual or social) actions. So the production of meaning – taken from the title of Jayce Salloum’s course – is the motto of the Summer Academy’s course programme 2015.
ERSTE Foundation offers fellowships for young artists and for emerging curators from Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovak Republic to take part in a course of their choice at the Salzburg Summer Academy of Fine Arts (20 July – 29 August 2015).
The fellowships are designed for artists and curators at the beginning of their career and cover room and board, travel expenses and the participation fee for the course. Furthermore, the participants will be given the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and their experience, to reflect their own work, develop new ideas and get contacts on an international level.
A call was held in the respective countries beginning of this year and from over 100 applications a jury – formed by ERSTE Foundation together with its long term project partners tranzit.cz, tranzit.hu, tranzit.ro and tranzit.sk – selected the following fellows:
• Ágnes Básthy (HU) – course of Joanna Warsza
• Ilinca Paun Constantinescu (RO) – course of Raimundas Malašauskas
• Dominik Gajarský (CZ) – course of cinéma copains – Hector/Tummescheit
• Tereza Jindrová (CZ) – course of Jennifer Allen (Group II)
• Zuzana Kleinerová (CZ) – course of feld72
• Kiki Mihuta (RO) – course of Maha Maamoun
• Vanda Sárai (HU) – course of Joanna Warsza
• Michal Stolárik (SK) – course of Raimundas Malašauskas
• Zuzana Žabková (SK) – course of Doug Ashford
We would like to congratulate the fellows and wish them a productive and interesting time. We are looking forward to any possible presentation or participation in a public event during the Salzburg Summer Academy. The 2015 programme of events will be online at the end of June 2015.
