Debating Europe: Geopolitical changes in Europe

Debating Europe

After the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989 and the restructuring of Europe, development seemed set to continue smoothly. In the past few months, however, it has seen growing insecurity.

Peace and security can no longer be taken for granted. Borders and state structures are now the subject of debate. Economic ties are being called into question and economic sanctions are having a tangible impact – also in Austria. Is the Cold War returning to Europe?

Panellists include: Carl Bildt (former Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs), Ana Palacio (Member of Parliament and former Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs), Ivan Krastev (Chairman of the Centre for Liberal Strategies in Sofia and fellow at the IWM Institute of Human Sciences in Vienna) and Fyodor Lukyanov (editor-in-chief of the journal Russia in Global Affairs, Chairman of the Council on Foreign and Defence Policy).
Moderated by: Alexandra Föderl-Schmid (Editor-in-Chief of DER STANDARD)
