Challenge your own creativity! @ Social Innovation and Management Programme
The third edition of the Social Innovation and Management Programme of our ERSTE Foundation NGO Academy kicked off last week in Vienna. 25 NGO representatives from 11 Central and South Eastern European countries participated in the first 5-day module of the programme, which focused on the resources and sources of innovation.
Lectures combined theoretical backgrounds with practical parts, and were complemented by inspirational talks and visits to successful social enterprises in Vienna – all meant to challenge participants’ way of thinking about fundraising, innovation processes, and their very own creativity.
As a creative method meant to help them find new solutions to existing problems, participants went through a one-day design thinking process. Thus they developed a deeper understanding for the situation of visually impaired persons and the challenges they go through in their everyday life, for example when crossing the street, choosing between different types of pretzel bags or paying in a supermarket.
A visit to Dialogue in the Dark completed their experience. The social business offers an exhibition where ‘there is nothing to see’, through which visitors discover the world of visually impaired persons.
The whole process enabled participants to create various ideas on how to tackle an initial challenge, and therefore provided them with a tool to help them initiate innovation in their own organisations.
We are looking forward to welcoming them again in April to the second module!
