Opening: 21 November 2009, 2:30 pm
Places that remind – People who tell
The history of a Jewish suburb
Audio guide with 10 stations
The vivid memories of 17 Holocaust survivors, who grew up in and around Herklotzgasse 21 in Vienna’s 15th district, and who contributed to the namewise project, bring the scenery of Jewish life in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus as it was before erased by the Nazis to new life. Picture and text plates at 10 relevant sites of the neighbourhood will give visitors an impression of Jewish life of those times. By calling the phone numbers on the plates, visitors can listen to the individual stories of the survivors and share their memories. The audio guides will be available in German, English, Turkish, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and Hebrew.
