A ten part-documentary series based on ESI research, winner of the 2008 Erasmus EuroMedia Award

Hop on and take a ride across South Eastern Europe. The film series Balkan Express «Return to Europe» takes you on an exploration of the Balkans. The route takes us through landscapes and cities situated on the Adriatic Sea, along the Danube River, all the way to Istanbul, the region’s largest city. Discover the fascination of the complex realities of what is called the «Balkans». We explore the roots of modern myths about the region and expose distorted images that have persisted until today. Based on scientific research conducted by the renowned research institute European Stability Initiative (ESI), this series takes a close look at the region’s many problems. It also reveals the dramatic progress made during the past decade.
